Analyze measures of central tendency and dispersion
Input data
Table of points represented by bars whose heights are the values (xi) and widths are the frequencies (fi) on which
calculate the measures. We will be able to type or randomly
Margin to control the display of the axes from the points of the ends
"Reset applet" button.
Output data
Average (horizontal bar)
Median (vertical bar)
-If pair:
-If not pair:
Mode (Blue bar/s)
Range (Vertical bar)
Variance (sum of the squares of the distances of the points to average)
Standard deviation
Observations
Once you have done the calculations can change the values (xi) by dragging the points by clicking on them after selecting the move tool (the mouse pointer icon).
It is also possible to change frequencies, for this click inside of each rectangle and gently slide the mouse.
The first steps
Build a six points table. Click the mouse on one of the boxes and try to vary their value and frequency.
What do you notice in the different measures when you increase the frequency of a data to fi = 12 for example?
If we now move considerably xi value, how does variables change.
A table is formed by x = 8 i = 1, .., 5, how do you have to change with the mouse to keep the average values? Analyzes
in this case the changes in other measures.
